Umstead State Park

Today we hurried home from church to get out and explore a little bit before we had a dinner appointment at 5:30! Yes, a ward member invited us over for food and welcoming :)

We adventured over to Umstead State Park.  Its about 15 mins away from our home and just the perfect area to get an outdoor fix in!  Since we didn't know much about the park we decided to head to the visitor center for a map and other information.  They have camping (which we plan to do sometime this summer), a few lakes to canoe, and several bike/horse/jog/walking trails!

We ended up just walking down to a lake instead of doing a trail since Jason was in his Sunday best still :) Basically I was itching to hike around but it was also pleasant to just enjoy the scenery and breathe fresh air.

So, there are a lot of items shaped like a heart.  We started noticing this together before we even dated - we found a rock shaped like a heart and since then its just been one of our things to point out.  Jade stopped and told Jason and I about the heart shape and 'how it came to be'.  All I know is I have a goofy husband who makes up great theories.

After a little bit of walking around the lake, we headed back to the apartment just in time to change our clothes for dinner.   A sweet family invited us over for dinner with another couple that is out here for the summer.  They had a BEAUTIFUL home and dinner was so wonderful.  They served chicken fettuccine alfredo, delicious garlic bread from Costco, and a superb salad (mixed greens, walnuts, feta, mangos, strawberries, grapes) with amazing homemade dressing.  I need the recipe of everything it was SO good.  
After dinner, everyone was wanting to play games with us so we kind of played popcorn between apartments. It was definitely a relaxing day and so good for my soul.
