On Martin Luther King Day, Jade didn't have school so we took advantage of the free day to explore the outdoors around us. We grabbed our new snowshoes, camelbacks, sack lunches, snow gear and headed for the mountains. Unfortunately, we were a bit nervous pulling up to the Ski Resort as there was hardly any snow on the ground, only a little on one side of the mountain. We pulled out our map and went for it - lets face it: we weren't going to waste our gas getting there to just turn around, so we were going to do something! Once we got to the first snowshoe trail we decided to attempt it. Right off the groomed snowy trail, it lead up to a S T E E P snowshoe trail... After climbing the hill for a little while we ran into the dry trail; no snow. Fortunately, the trail turned in the direction of where the shadows covered the snow and we were able to actually snowshoe the whole trail. It was a tiring adventure. And definitely harder than the first & last trail we enjoyed, and nonetheless helped me realize I am not in shape what-so-ever. Thankful for a patient husband :) It was fun and we look forward to bringing friends on our next adventure! We saw many different animal footprints and enjoyed the beautiful outdoor scenery.
